Stress and depression for women are fraught with an increased risk of myocardial infarction, said Oksana Drapkina, Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Professor, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Honored Doctor of the Russian Federation.
According to her, in some women this risk is much higher than in other categories. She recalled that coronary heart disease in women develops six to eight years later than in men.
She noted that those ladies who are constantly experiencing stress and depression are at risk. In addition, among the factors contributing to the occurrence of myocardial infarction are menopause, miscarriages and teenage pregnancies, hysterectomy (removal of the uterus), autoimmune diseases, breast cancer treatment.
