The doctor named the most common mistakes when measuring blood pressure

The most common errors when measuring blood pressure were revealed by doctor and TV presenter Alexander Myasnikov in his author’s program on the Rossiya 1 TV channel.
He noted that a few minutes before the measurements you need to sit quietly for a few minutes, avoiding physical and emotional stress. In this case, the pressure should be measured on an empty bladder; it also does not make sense to take measurements immediately after eating and drinking green tea.
Myasnikov noted the importance of posture, calling the correct option in which a person sits on a chair with his legs straightened. “If you cross your legs, your blood pressure may increase by 10 centimeters,” he said.
According to him, the optimal readings end at 119/79, and readings from 120/80 to 129/79 indicate hypertension. Myasnikov also recalled that when making a diagnosis, the average pressure over 24 hours and per night is taken into account.
