The director of school No. 87 in Omsk wrote a statement to the police against the authors of the video message to the mayor of the city, who accused her of refusing to install a memorial plaque to a graduate who died in the SVO zone. Galina Nazarova, press secretary of the city’s mayor, reported this to Kommersant-Sibir.
The day before, two SVO participants posted post in the Telegram channel “Russian community ZOV”. In it, they stated that they had collected all the necessary documents to install a memorial plaque on the wall of the school, but the director refused to do so. The men who recorded the video message introduced themselves as veterans of the Northern Military District; according to them, the deceased was their comrade in arms.
“We proposed to perpetuate the memory of the deceased by installing a memorial plaque on the wall of his home school, having previously coordinated everything with the administration of the Leninsky District, the department of property relations and the military registration and enlistment office. And with these documents we came to a meeting with the school director,” says the video message.
As the mayor’s press secretary explained, such decisions are made not by the school director, but by the toponymic commission of the Omsk City Council. In addition, Ms. Nazarova noted, those who applied did not have a ready-made package of documents.
“The mayor instructed the district and the city council deputy, who was elected from this territory, to quickly prepare this package. At the first meeting of the City Council, which will take place after the holidays, this issue will be considered,” explained Galina Nazarova.
She also added that “even the head of the district has not yet seen these papers.” According to her, this story has been going on since August. How reported in his Telegram channel, Mayor Sergei Shelest, since the beginning of the Northern Military District, the toponymic commission of the Omsk City Council “has not made a single negative decision regarding perpetuating the memory of our dead guys.”
