A new book on the US administration by Chris Whipple reveals that the withdrawal of the US military from Afghanistan left President Joe Biden “sad, frustrated and insomniac.”
The book, full of insider information from the White House, notes that Biden was stunned when the Afghan army quickly collapsed in August 2021. For the first time, an American president had to face criticism of his actions in such a volume that it led him to depression.
Whipple wrote: “While American troops were in Afghanistan, one of Biden’s close friends told me that the President barely slept.”
