Guides from St. Petersburg became victims of the explosion
Among the victims of the explosion on the Crimean bridge (TFR officially reported the death of three, telegram channels called the number 6, including the truck driver) were guides from St. Petersburg – 53-year-old Eduard Chuchakin and his 33-year-old wife Zoya Sofronova. They went to the peninsula to shoot a movie about the Romanov dynasty.
We spoke with friends of the victims.
Eduard and Zoya were famous guides in St. Petersburg. In their free time, they made films on historical themes. Their archive contains a full-length film about Rasputin and a series about Nicholas II “The Last Romanovs. End of the Empire.” Zoya was a professional historian. Edward is a specialist in the history and architecture of St. Petersburg.
Friends of the victims say that they had been planning a trip to the Crimea for a long time. We were going to shoot one of the episodes for the series about the Romanovs there. Thinking of staying at a friend’s house.
We spoke with colleagues of the victims.
“Eduard and Zoya worked in our company, they conducted individual excursions,” says Tatyana from TJ Travel. – True, the last time we contacted Eduard was a year ago. They were excellent and sought-after guides, as they say, like hot cakes. Sometimes tourists wanted to book a tour with them, I called Eduard, and he was already busy for several weeks in advance. They were well known in the city. The guys worked a lot, mostly for themselves, made up individual author’s programs.
Edward and Zoya worked in tandem. Before the pandemic, excursions were conducted with foreign tourists. Both spoke good English. Recently, new tours have been developed for Russian tourists.
In addition to excursions, they made films about the Romanovs and Yusupovs. Zoya was the operator, Eduard was in the frame.
They were married for a long time, but, in my opinion, they did not have children. Anyway, they never talked about children.
Another colleague of the victims, Yulia, shared her memories: “We met a long time ago, as we worked together as guides with foreigners. Then I starred in one of their films. When the tragedy happened, I immediately went to the page on the social network to Eduard, which, it seems to me, they ran together with Zoya. In any case, I did not find her account. I also remember that Eduard used to post some opposition texts on his page. Now I looked – there is nothing. Apparently removed.
