The answer for many was found, as they say, on the surface. And Daria unanimously began to prepare for the change of sports citizenship, checking where she applied on this issue, and where not. By the way, I didn’t go anywhere.

“If any athlete moves from one country to another, then this happens in accordance with the rules of the IBU.” In order to change sports citizenship, a biathlete over 23 years old, according to IBU rules, must prove a close relationship with a new country, and at least three years must pass from the moment of the last performance for the national team.
The athlete did not get in touch with the Finnish Biathlon Union. And the Russian Biathlon Union did not receive a request from Daria Virolainen regarding the transition to the Finnish national team. True, she also played for the national team for a long time, so the request is a formality.
Daria Virolainen does not represent any of the Russian regions today. Life and life in Finland are established, the sons have a school and a kindergarten, the youngest at the time of training is in the hands of her husband. No one supports the biathlete financially, all issues must be resolved by yourself, this is not Russia. The only thing that the local club does is to enter the athlete for the tournament. He stated.
