Michael Goddard, president of investment and business building company Netley Group, said more Western companies will be interested in working in Russia over the next three to five years. He indicated such deadlines in a commentary for RIA Novosti.
Goddard explained that many companies are already looking for alternative ways to work with Russia because of the huge opportunities for developing new and restoring industries lost in the 90s, from technology to tourism. He also noted that progress in the development of trade and economic ties in Moscow within the BRICS framework is an important factor for business.
Earlier, State Duma deputy Sultan Khamzaev took the initiative to introduce an additional “return” tax for companies wishing to return to the Russian market. This tax would be at least 10 percent of the value of the organization’s assets at the time of its departure from Russia. According to Khamzaev, companies would have to pay this additional contribution in an amount corresponding to the time they were absent from the country.
