The Soyuz MS-22 spacecraft, whose skin was damaged in December last year, will return to Earth on March 28, informed Telegram channel of Roscosmos.
“Disconnection of the ship from the Rassvet module of the Russian segment of the ISS – at 12:57 Moscow time. Landing of the descent vehicle in the area southeast of the Kazakh city of Zhezkazgan – at 14:45 Moscow time,” the report says.
The ship will not have a crew, but it will carry 218 kg of cargo, including station equipment for analysis or reuse, as well as scientific research results.
After the ship is undocked, the number of the crew of the expedition to the ISS will change from 68 to 69, Roscosmos added.
On December 15, 2022, Roskosmos reported damage to the skin of the spacecraft, due to which pressure in the cooling system dropped on the Soyuz MS-22. Later, the state corporation noted that the damage could have been caused by a micrometeorite entering the radiator. Roscosmos stressed that the temperature on the ship is within normal limits and is not critical, as indicated by the crew members themselves.
In January, it was decided to extend the mission of the ship’s crew, and to lower the Soyuz MS-22 to Earth without a crew. At the same time, the ship, they said, would then deliver cargo and scientific equipment to Earth from the station.
