GSC Game World decided not to succumb to the ultimatum put forward by Russian hackers before the release of the computer game STALKER 2, who threatened to publish game materials on the Internet. According to the company’s Twitter account, it refused to comply with the demands of the hackers and urged players not to view or distribute the leaked information in order to preserve the impression of the game.
At the same time, the studio acknowledged that the leaked material was due to the hacking of the account of one of its employees. A hacker group from Russia threatened the developers of the game that they would publish game content before the official release if the company did not change its attitude towards players from the Russian Federation. One of the requirements was the complete localization of the game into Russian.
Despite the threats of hackers, GSC Game World does not plan to change its position in relation to the Russian audience. The company said last year that it would not sell its products to users in Russia and did not regret the decision.
