The author of programming languages, scientist Niklaus Wirth, died in Switzerland.
Turing Award winner and creator of several programming languages Niklaus Wirth has died in Switzerland at the age of 88. The death of the professor was announced by the ETH Zurich.
It is reported that the scientist died on January 1 surrounded by his family, farewell is scheduled for January 11.
Wirth created several programming languages, including Pascal, and developed the first personal computers in Switzerland. In 1984 he received the Turing Award.
