“The scientific director of the Concern VKO Almaz-Antey, Hero of Labor of the Russian Federation Pavel Kamnev has passed away,” the statement said.
Pavel Kamnev was born on November 14, 1937 in Makhachkala. He graduated with honors from the Moscow Aviation Institute, at the Sverdlovsk Machine-Building Plant named after M.I. Kalinin he rose from an engineer to the first deputy chief designer – the head of the enterprise.
Since 1991, he was appointed First Deputy Chief Designer – Head of the Novator Design Bureau, which he later headed. Among the developments of this enterprise, in particular, long-range cruise missiles “Caliber”. These missiles are equipped with ships and submarines.
In April 2017, he was appointed to the position of scientific director of the Concern VKO. He worked until the last day of his life. He was awarded the Order of the Badge of Honor, the Order of Merit for the Fatherland, IV degree.
