The court took into custody the guide of tourists who died in Kamchatka in early September. This was reported in the Investigative Committee of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation for the Kamchatka Territory.
“The court chose a measure of restraint in the form of detention against a guide who participated in organizing the ascent of tourists to the Klyuchevskaya Sopka volcano and accompanied them on the route,” the report says.
The man was charged under article 238 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation on the provision of services that do not meet safety requirements and resulted in the death of two or more persons. Under this article, he faces up to ten years in prison. According to the case file, he did not have the necessary permits to work with tourists in conditions of increased danger at altitude and was aware that he was providing unsafe services.
The arrest of the guide was appointed until January 15, 2023.
Recall that nine people died as a result of the tragedy.
