The Golovinsky Court of Moscow sentenced human rights activist Oleg Orlov (recognized by the Ministry of Justice of the Russian Federation as a foreign agent) to 2.5 years in prison for discrediting the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation.

Orlov was sentenced under Article 280 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation. He will serve his sentence in a general regime colony.

Previously, the prosecutor requested 2 years and 11 months in prison for the defendant, the defense insisted on an acquittal. Orlov himself did not admit guilt at the trial. He also refused to testify and question witnesses.

A criminal case was opened against Orlov for an article criticizing the special operation.
