The Basmanny District Court of Moscow released from custody the head of the boiler house of the Klimovsky Specialized Cartridge Plant (KSPZ) CJSC, Alexander Chikov, in the courtroom. He will remain under house arrest until June 5. On February 10, the court arrested Alexander Chikov in the case of an accident in a boiler room, which led to a shutdown of heating in residential buildings in the Podolsk microdistrict.

According to message court, certain prohibitions are established for the accused during the period of house arrest. Which ones exactly are not specified.

On January 4, an accident occurred in the boiler room, as a result of which residents of 173 apartment buildings in the Klimovsky microdistrict were left without heating. One of the causes of the accident was a malfunction of the frequency converter of the smoke exhauster of the water heating boiler at the JSC. Alexander Chikov was charged with performing services that do not meet safety requirements (clause “a”, part 2 of article 238 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation).

After the initiation of a criminal case, Alexander Chikov’s relatives created petition demanding his release from custody. At the moment, more than 89 thousand people have signed it. Mr. Chikov’s niece Olga Afanasyeva told “Moskovsky Komsomolets”that residents stood up for the head of the boiler house, because they consider him innocent. According to the text of the petition, Alexander Chikov sent letters to management about equipment malfunctions in the summer of 2023 (before the start of the heating season), but they went unheeded.
