The court rendered a verdict in the case of the death of people in the elevator of the elite President Hotel

The culprit was sentenced to forced labor

The verdict against businessman David Gelashvili, who supervised the repair of elevators in the elite President Hotel, was handed down by the Zamoskvoretsky Court of the capital. During the work, the technical elevator collapsed, killing two workers.

Let us remind you that the tragedy occurred on January 13 last year in a hotel building on Bolshaya Yakimanka. When workers were changing the cabin, the cable broke and the elevator fell from the 7th floor. One of the men was in the cabin, the second was outside, between the cabin and the wall. As a result of the elevator falling, both workers – Armenian citizens aged 30 and 32 – died from their injuries. The head of the contracting company, David Gelashvili, was charged with violating safety regulations during construction work, resulting in the death of two or more people. This is part 3 of Article 216 of the Criminal Code, it provides for punishment of up to 7 years in prison.

As a result, the Zamoskvoretsky court sentenced Gelashvili to three years of forced labor, with 10% of his salary withheld. In addition, he will have to compensate for moral damage to the relatives of the victims.
