The Zamoskvoretsky Court of Moscow dismissed the lawsuit filed by blogger Ilya Varlamov (recognized as a foreign agent) against the Ministry of Justice. Mr. Varlamov demanded to remove the status of a foreign agent.
“The court refused to satisfy Varlamov’s claims against the Ministry of Justice of the Russian Federation. The plaintiff demanded that the decision to include him in the register of foreign agents be declared illegal, ”the court said (quoted by TASS).
Also today, the court will consider applications from comedians Semyon Slepakov and Maxim Galkin (both included in the register of foreign agents) to remove this status from them.
Ilya Varlamov recognized foreign agent in March 2023. The Ministry of Justice, among the reasons for its inclusion in the register, indicated the dissemination of false information about the decisions of public authorities and their policies, as well as receiving support from foreign sources. In May he challenged foreign agent status.
