The court liquidated Vissarion’s “Church of the Last Testament”

The court satisfied the claim of the prosecutor’s office of the Krasnoyarsk Territory on the liquidation of the Kuragin local religious organization “Church of the Last Testament” and its exclusion from the Unified State Register of Legal Entities.
The results of the prosecutor’s check became the basis for going to court. The department concluded that the activity of a religious organization “threatens the interests of society and the state, infringes on the personality, rights and freedoms of citizens and entails damage to the morality and health of citizens,” which, in accordance with Art. 14 of the Federal Law “On freedom of conscience and on religious associations” is the basis for the ban on its activities.
“The expert opinions received as part of the audit confirm that the materials of the Church of the Last Testament contain doctrinal recommendations that restrict the right to life, the right to liberty and inviolability of the person, and the right to protect the family. Experts conclude that Vissarion’s teaching allows for the recognition of deviant behavior, the stimulation of dependent behavior, and the disregard for accepted norms of marriage,” the prosecutor’s office notes.
In addition, the department points to facts of causing harm to the mental health of adherents of a religious movement “by suppressing attempts to manifest their own thoughts, desires, needs and aspirations under the threat of public censure, the formation of a persistent sense of guilt and expulsion from the community.”
The decision of the court has not entered into force. The defense of the Church of the Last Testament has already announced its intention to appeal against it.
