The court forbade ex-Colonel of the GRU Kvachkov to participate in public events

The Dorogomilovsky Court of Moscow banned retired GRU colonel Vladimir Kvachkov from participating in mass events until February 19, 2029, when his criminal record is cancelled. In addition, Mr. Kvachkov was ordered to register once a month with the police at the place of residence, also until the conviction is extinguished, reports TASS with reference to the press service of the court.
The interlocutor of the agency clarified that the court decision has not yet entered into force and can be appealed.
The colonel received a criminal record in 2013. Then he was sentenced to 13 years in prison for preparing an armed rebellion. The Supreme Court of the Russian Federation reduced this period to eight years. But while serving his sentence in a colony in August 2017, he was given another year and a half for distributing an extremist video on the Internet. The retired GRU colonel was released in February 2019.
Mr. Kvachkov became known to the general public in 2005 after being arrested in connection with the March 2005 assassination attempt on the then head of RAO UES Anatoly Chubais. But the jury twice acquitted him and alleged accomplices in 2008 and 2010.
August 15, 2023 Colonel fined for 40 thousand rubles. under the article on discrediting the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation (Article 20.3.3 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation). He was found guilty of publishing messages on the Odnoklassniki social network discrediting the armed forces of the Russian Federation and their commander-in-chief.
