On June 19, the Leninsky District Court of Yekaterinburg found the head of the local Memorial (a foreign agent, a federal organization entered in the register of foreign agents and liquidated by the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation) Aleksey Mosin guilty of discrediting the RF Armed Forces (Article 20.3.3 of the Code of Administrative Offenses) and fined him 100,000 . rub. In court, the head of the society said that the photo with the poster was taken at an agreed rally before the start of the special military operation (SVO) of the Russian Federation in Ukraine. In a conversation with Kommersant, Alexei Mosin said that he intends to file an appeal against the court’s decision.
The Yekaterinburg Memorial Society was founded in 1987. This is an information and educational center on the history of totalitarian repressions. One of the areas of activity is the perpetuation of the memory of the victims of repression and the holding of citywide actions. Alexey Mosin has been heading Memorial since 2021. He repeatedly went out with pickets in memory of the victims of political repression and organized anti-war actions.
