The court dismissed the case of discrediting the army against the editor-in-chief of the Rostov media

The Oktyabrsky District Court of Rostov-on-Don declared illegal the initiation of an administrative case against the editor-in-chief of the local news portal 1RND Elena Dorovskikh under the article on discrediting the armed forces of the Russian Federation (Article 20.3.3 of the Code of Administrative Offenses) for publishing news about the distribution of anti-war leaflets. A protocol on an administrative offense against Elena Dorovskikh was drawn up on August 22. The initiator was the regional branch of the Center for Combating Extremism, which is part of the structure of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Rostov Region. The reason for the protocol was last year’s publication on the distribution of leaflets containing calls for mobilized Russian soldiers to surrender to the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The publication also contained photos of the leaflets themselves.
Lawyers in court managed to prove “the bias of the protocol drawn up” and the absence of an administrative violation. “According to the decision of the judge, the proceedings in this case were terminated,” summed up lawyer Vladimir Chesnokov.
“Experienced journalists and managers conducted their examination and came to the conclusion that there is no discrediting of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation in the controversial material, and the illustrations (photos of leaflets) are photographic facts that emphasize the reliability of the information,” he quotes 1RND editor-in-chief’s words.
Former edition of the online publication claimedthat Elena Dorovskikh supports the policy of the state and has a large number of letters of thanks from law enforcement agencies, as well as awards for her professional activities. The day before the protocol on discrediting the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation was drawn up, the journalist received the medal “For military-patriotic work.”
