The Salekhard court did not satisfy the complaint of the mother of oppositionist Alexei Navalny, who died in a colony, Lyudmila Navalnaya, against the actions of the investigative authorities. This was reported by TASS press service of the court. Ms. Navalnaya complained that they were not giving her body for burial. On March 1, Alexei Navalny was buried in Moscow at the Borisov Cemetery.

On February 20, Lyudmila Navalnaya recorded a video message in which she stated that in Salekhard they were refusing to give her her son’s body. The next day TASS source reportedthat the Salekhard court received a complaint from Lyudmila Navalnaya about the failure to release her son’s body. It was planned to consider the complaint behind closed doors.

The body of Alexei Navalny was given to his mother on February 24, eight days after the Federal Penitentiary Service announced his death in penal colony No. 3 of special regime in the Yamalo-Nenets district. As the Federal Penitentiary Service reported, Alexei Navalny felt unwell on February 16 after a walk and lost consciousness. It was not possible to revive him. The media reported that a blood clot had broken off.
