The court arrested the accused in the production of surrogate cider

A court in Ulyanovsk on Tuesday, June 6, sanctioned the detention for two months of Samara businessman Anar Afat ogly Huseynov, accused of producing surrogate cider.

A preventive measure in the form of arrest will be in effect against the man until at least August 4. At the same time, the accused asked to be placed under house arrest, while promising to cooperate with the investigation.

The lawyer of businessman Anar Afat oglu Huseynov Vusal Sheydaev said that the second person involved in the criminal case on mass poisoning with cider in the Ulyanovsk region was detained. According to the lawyer, “it was only thanks to Huseynov that a man who supplied alcohol-containing products to the Samara region was detained on his shift.” Sheydayev said that “there is a strong suspicion that methanol was contained in these products.”

At the same time, the arrested Huseynov himself does not admit his guilt in the criminal case.

Earlier it became known that an individual entrepreneur Anar Huseynov had already appeared in court over cider in April 2022. Then the law enforcement officers checked his trading facility and recorded the sale of alcohol without certificates of conformity, invoices and certificates for waybills for each product. But in the end, Huseynov was brought only to administrative responsibility for violating the rules of the alcohol trade – under Part 2 of Art. 14.16 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation. He paid a fine of 10 thousand rubles and continued to sell alcohol.

Currently, there are already 37.6 thousand liters of the potentially dangerous drink “Mr. Cider” taken out of circulation. The largest number of products seized in the Kurgan region, Udmurtia and Crimea. In addition, the products were identified and seized in the Vladimir, Ryazan, Samara, Ulyanovsk and Penza regions, the Republics of Mordovia and Mari El, as well as the Perm Territory.
