The court arrested the accused in the murders of Moscow escort girls

The Presnensky Court of Moscow on Monday, December 25, authorized the arrest of Alexei Varakin, who is accused of double murder. Court press secretary Lela Kokaya spoke about this.

Varakin will remain in the pre-trial detention center at least until February 24, 2024, the court said.

According to investigators, on December 22, in a hotel in eastern Moscow, during a quarrel, the accused stabbed to death a woman whom he had met several weeks earlier. The next night, in an apartment on Mukomolny Proezd, he stabbed a 25-year-old girl to death. The second victim, trying to defend herself, injured the attacker. The man was hospitalized and confessed to the crimes he had committed.

It was previously reported that in 2019, Varakin, who was diagnosed with a serious psychiatric illness, was released from compulsory treatment. This medical measure was prescribed to him after the murder of two girls of easy virtue in St. Petersburg in 2010.
