Council of Legislators of Russia approved the initiative of the Kurultai of Bashkiria to ban the spread of childfree ideology (life without children) among young people. The relevant bill will soon be submitted to the State Duma for consideration, the press service of the regional parliament reported.
It is proposed to amend the Federal Law “On the protection of children from information harmful to their health and development”. In particular, the list of information prohibited for children will include propaganda of “voluntary refusal to have children and the ideology of childlessness”.
According to Konstantin Tolkachev, chairman of the Kurultai, the childfree ideology came from abroad and spread among Russian youth. At the heart of this ideology, according to the politician, is the philosophy of hedonism, which “reduces the whole meaning of human existence to idleness and the satisfaction of personal needs.”
“The spread of the childfree ideology is contrary to the state policy of our country, which is based on traditional family values, support for motherhood and childhood,” said Mr. Tolkachev.
As before informed Kommersant, the bill was developed in March on the initiative of the deputies of the United Russia faction. Amendments to the federal law were developed by the committee of the Kurultai of Bashkiria on health care, social policy and veterans’ affairs. Currently, the list of information prohibited for children includes items on the denial of family values and the promotion of non-traditional sexual relations.
In case of violation of the Federal Law “On the protection of children from information harmful to their health and development”, in accordance with Art. 6.17 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation, a fine is provided for citizens in the amount of 2 thousand to 3 thousand rubles. Officials may be fined from 5,000 to 10,000 rubles, legal entities – from 20,000 to 50,000 rubles. with suspension of activities for 90 days or with confiscation of the subject of an administrative offense.
