From January 2, fares for public transport in Moscow will be adjusted, but the changes will be below the level of inflation. Both the cost of a single trip and a number of travel tickets will change, while it is emphasized that the price of the most popular fares will remain the same. In particular, the prices for the annual travel pass for ground transport, the annual “Single” and the passage to the subway using Face Pay biometrics will remain at the level of the current year.
“A decision was made to change tariffs for urban transport from January 2, 2023 in Moscow. Fares vary, however, within the range below the inflation rate of about 8%. At the same time, according to the forecast of the Ministry of Economic Development of Russia, the average annual inflation in the country will be 13.9%,” explained Roman Latypov, First Deputy Head of the Moscow Department of Transport.
He also spoke about changes in tariffs that will make passenger travel more convenient and profitable.
“Until March 31, 2023, the “Early Time” promotion will be extended, giving a 50% discount on travel outside the morning rush hour for passengers of the Tagansko-Krasnopresnenskaya and Nekrasovskaya lines. For the first time, a “Single” ticket for the metro and land transport will be introduced for schoolchildren, students and other students, and in the summer the possibility of “freezing” annual travel cards for a period of 14 days will be launched,” concluded Roman Latypov.
