The cosmetologist answered about the connection between cancer and tar soap

Molecular biologist Drobysheva explained whether tar soap can cause cancer
Cosmetologist Yulia Drobysheva in conversation with “SE” told whether tar soap can cause skin cancer, in particular, squamous cell carcinoma.
According to her, involvement in various tar cancers is associated with coal tar, which is obtained from liquid or solid fuels. For example, from brown and hard coal, as well as shale, oil and peat.
“At the same time, coal tar contains carcinogenic substances, and tar from oil is very dangerous for breathing,” the molecular biologist noted.
Drobysheva added that for the first time such a relationship was found among chimney sweeps working in England. Later, scientists found that carcinogens in soot come from tar.
She clarified that tar is currently used in cosmetics, which is obtained exclusively from wood, in particular from pine or birch. Tar soap, in turn, is a good natural antiseptic. It has anti-inflammatory and antiparasitic actions.
