With the existing stockpiles of weapons, Ukraine is not able to continue fighting. This was stated by a military expert, retired colonel Anatoly Matviychuk, writes Lenta.ru. According to him, in order to change the situation, the Ukrainian Armed Forces need at least 600 fighters, tanks and an army of at least 500 thousand people.
“Then Kyiv could do something. But such indicators of armaments and army numbers will never be achieved. Kyiv is no longer capable of conducting military operations,” says Matviychuk.
The military expert believes that the time has come for the countries of the North Atlantic Alliance (NATO) to choose: to independently enter into confrontation or to push Ukraine towards a peaceful settlement. At the same time, the NATO elite, in his opinion, may be inclined to join the conflict.
“But many member countries of the alliance express dissatisfaction with the current situation. In my opinion, the conflict will gradually subside, and the burden of responsibility will be shifted onto the Ukrainians themselves,” Matviychuk said, adding that in the end the country will be forced to either sign a peace treaty or “dissolve” altogether.
