Euractiv: NATO members still have disagreements on supporting Kyiv

NATO members still have those disagreements regarding Ukraine that they encountered during the bloc’s summer summit in Vilnius. Euractiv writes about this, based on the words of diplomats.
“The same disagreements as during the summit in Vilnius remain,” the publication said. Washington and Berlin, for example, intend to discuss Ukraine’s accession to NATO only after implementing the recommendations that will be announced in the annual national program. Other members of the association, in turn, believe that the program should be viewed as a guide or tool for assessing the country’s achievements.
At the same time, according to one of the bloc’s diplomats, the inclusion of Ukraine in the alliance is still a political decision. As another politician suggested, even if the Ukrainian crisis ends tomorrow and Kyiv follows through with its entire plan, it may still be difficult to get an invitation to NATO.
