The condition for the extradition of Spartak football player Promes to the Netherlands has been announced

Russia and the Netherlands do not have a bilateral extradition treaty, so the likelihood that the Russian side will extradite Spartak forward Quincy Promes, convicted in Amsterdam, is low. This opinion was expressed by sports lawyer Alexey Panin.
In a commentary to RBC, the expert noted that extradition is possible on the basis of a multilateral treaty. However, Panin considered the likelihood of such a development to be low in light of the current political situation.
Honored Lawyer of the Russian Federation, Professor Ivan Solovyov, said that extradition will depend on whether the Netherlands contacts Interpol to put Promes on the international wanted list and whether Russia will execute the corresponding warrant – again, taking into account the political situation.
Russian law enforcement agencies told TASS that while Promes is not wanted by Interpol, Russia has not received any requests in this regard.
Court in the Netherlands sentenced Promes in absentia to six years in prison in a drug smuggling case and ordered the arrest of the football player if he arrived in any of the EU member states.
The head of the press service of Moscow “Spartak” Dmitry Zelenov recalled that this is not a final solution — A formal hearing of the appeal against the court verdict is scheduled for February 20 in Amsterdam.
At the same time, Quincy Promes continues to play for Spartak. In the final match of the RPL Winter Cup in Dubai, the red-whites beat Kazakhstan’s Kairat with a score of 6:0. At the same time, Promes scored a double and thereby helped the team win the tournament.
