Press Secretary of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov, commenting on the return of singer Alla Pugacheva to the country, said that any citizen can freely leave Russia and return to it. He also noted that the concept of “relative of a foreign agent” – the singer’s husband Maxim Galkin is recognized as a foreign agent in the Russian Federation – should not become a household name.

“Naturally, any Russian citizen – a respectable, law-abiding Russian citizen – always freely returns to his homeland, the Russian Federation, and also freely leaves it for various purposes, be it tourism, or the desire to live somewhere else for some time. And so on and so forth,” Mr. Peskov said during a conference call.

According to him, the Kremlin is not going to separately assess the situation with Alla Pugacheva. “Russian citizens often travel to other countries, work there, return back to Russia, then leave again,” he said. “Relatives of foreign agents, firstly, are not a household name and should not be,” added Mr. Peskov.

The day before, November 2, “RIA News” reported that Alla Pugacheva returned to Russia through the border crossing in the Pskov region. Her husband Maxim Galkin was not with her. Later “Moscow’s comsomolets” reported that the singer arrived in Moscow by train, after which she went to her home in the village of Gryaz near Moscow.
