The leadership of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation has decided on the candidates who will participate from the party in the election of the mayor of Moscow, Vedomosti reports.
According to the publication, the main candidate was the deputy chairman of the Central Committee, Yuri Afonin. In addition to him, the list also included deputies Vadim Kumin and supposedly Denis Parfyonov.
The source of the publication called Afonin the most likely party candidate “with an eye” to participate in the 2024 federal elections.
Afonin is a State Duma deputy of the V, VI, VII and VIII convocations, First Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Natural Resources, Property and Land Relations, a member of the Communist Party faction. After the start of the special operation in Ukraine, he was included in the sanctions lists of the EU and the USA.
