To avoid a transport collapse, it is necessary to organize a ferry service for the transport of goods and passengers across the Sea of Azov with the ports of Berdyansk and Mariupol. A letter with such a proposal was sent by the Federation Council Committee on Economic Policy to Presidential Aide Maxim Oreshkin.
The head of the committee, Andrey Kutepov, told TASS that the Berdyansk and Mariupol ports are now owned by the regional administrations. At the same time, he noted, the ports are now accepting cargo, but they will be able to ship them only after reconstruction.
“The Sea of Azov is now the inland sea of the Russian Federation and is a fairly safe environment,” Mr. Kutepov said. The ports of Mariupol and Berdyansk are included in the Register of Seaports of the Russian Federation.
