The commander of the Pacific Fleet of the Russian Navy, Admiral Sergei Avakyants, left his post after 11 years of service, this information was confirmed in his Telegram channel by Deputy Prime Minister, presidential envoy to the Far Eastern Federal District Yuri Trutnev.
As reported, the admiral will receive a new appointment, he will head the headquarters responsible for the centers of military sports training and patriotic education.
According to Trutnev, the country is completing the creation of a centralized structure that will provide methodological support for the activities of regional centers for military sports training and patriotic education, as well as coordinate their work. This structure will be headed by Admiral Avakyants.
Sergey Avakyants was appointed Commander of the Russian Navy’s Pacific Fleet in May 2012. He was awarded the military rank of Admiral on December 13, 2014. At various times, he was awarded the orders “For Naval Merit”, “For Service to the Motherland in the Armed Forces of the USSR” 3rd degree, “For Military Merit” and the medal of the Order “For Merit to the Fatherland” 2nd degree.
