The Christmas adventures of a Frenchman in Russia will be shown by the Kremlin Ballet

On November 10, the State Kremlin Palace will host the premiere of Alexei Shelygin’s ballet The Toy Seller, based on the novel of the same name by Viktor Dobrosotsky.

A kind and romantic story about a young Parisian, a descendant of the princes Bersky, who came to St. Petersburg to learn the history of his ancestors, and got into a whirlpool of real and fabulous events, was very fond of not only by readers, but also by directors. Based on her motives, a film was made, performances and musicals were staged, and now – a ballet.

The action of the performance performed by the artists of the Kremlin Ballet Theater takes place today. The heir of an old princely family, Nicolas Bersky, who arrived in Russia on New Year’s Eve, will not only have to overcome the intrigues of the villains, find the treasure hidden by his grandfather, but also meet his love. And he also has unusual, magical dreams that are so closely intertwined with reality.

“The Toy Salesman is one of the rare ballets about our modern life. His characters live in Paris and St. Petersburg, work as salespeople, tour guides, fly Aeroflot aircraft, and so on. But on Christmas days, from December 25 to January 7, they enter the magical world of a fairy tale,” Andrey Petrov, the artistic director and chief choreographer of the Kremlin Ballet Theater, told about the performance.

The musical component of the ballet is provided by the Orpheus Radio Symphony Orchestra under the direction of the chief conductor, Honored Artist of Russia Sergei Kondrashev.

Bright, colourful, and extraordinarily captivating performance “The Toy Seller”, in which classical ballet is combined with modern music, will give the audience a rare opportunity to take a break from everyday problems and fuss, imbued with the spirit of the approaching Christmas.
