The Chief Rabbi of Russia at a meeting with Putin declared his readiness to do anything for the sake of peace in Ukraine

Russian President Vladimir Putin met in the Kremlin with Chief Rabbi of Russia Berl Lazar and President of the Federation of Jewish Communities Alexander Boroda. At it, Berl Lazar said that the Jewish community, not only in Russia, but throughout the world, is ready to do everything for a peaceful resolution of the situation in Ukraine.

“We are ready to do everything to find peaceful solutions, because when people around suffer, it’s bad for everyone … Perhaps our people are especially aware of what suffering is, so we are ready to do everything so that there is peace in the world and people live a good life” , said Berl Lazar (quoted from site Kremlin).

Vladimir Putin said that the current policy pursued by the Russian leadership is aimed at ensuring that crimes such as the Holocaust “never happen again.”

Mr. Lazar also made similar statements in March. Then he told “Kommersant” that the peace efforts of religious leaders “will help the conflicting parties to come to a peaceful solution.” The rabbi stressed that he is ready for any mediation to resolve the conflict.
