Central Election Commission (CEC) of Russia registered as a presidential candidate for the chairman of the LDPR, head of the State Duma Committee on International Affairs Leonid Slutsky and a candidate from the “New People”, vice-speaker of the State Duma Vladislav Davankov.

Leonid Slutsky and Vladislav Davankov are representatives of parliamentary parties; they did not need to collect voter signatures to register as presidential candidates.

As Mr. Slutsky reported in his Telegram channel, Today, January 5, he intends to go to Sochi as part of his election campaign, where he plans to hold “several meetings with city residents.” Mr. Davankov notedthat he is now preparing to open regional headquarters and is planning trips to Russian cities.

Also at today’s meeting, the Central Election Commission registered proxies of a potential presidential candidate, chairman of the Communists of Russia party Sergei Malinkovich. The commission also allowed him to open an election account and begin collecting voter signatures: since Mr. Malinkovich is a candidate from a non-parliamentary party, by January 31 he will need to provide at least 100 thousand signatures of Russians to the CEC.

Presidential elections are scheduled for March 17, 2024. They will take place over three days – March 15, 16 and 17. In addition to Leonid Slutsky, Vladislav Davankov and Sergei Malinkovich to participate in the elections claim current Russian President Vladimir Putin (self-nominated), Nikolai Kharitonov (Communist Party of the Russian Federation), Sergei Baburin (Russian All-People’s Union), Andrei Bogdanov (Russian Freedom and Justice Party), Boris Nadezhdin (Civil Initiative), Irina Sviridova (Democratic Party of Russia ), bloggers Rada of Russians and Anatoly Batashev (both self-nominated).
