The Central Election Commission refused to register four people wishing to participate in the presidential elections

Central Election Commission refused in registering as candidates for the presidential election to four candidates: Sergei Malinkovich from the “Communists of Russia”, Boris Nadezhdin from the “Civil Initiative”, self-nominated bloggers Anatoly Batashev and the Russian Rada. The grounds for refusal of registration are an insufficient number of signatures or the identification of more than 5% of unreliable signatures.

Sergey Malinkovich has provided 104 thousand signatures, after checking 60 thousand, 8.9 thousand were identified as unreliable (14.9%). 96 thousand signatures were recognized as reliable. Grounds for refusal: more than 5% of unreliable and invalid signatures.

Boris Nadezhdin has provided 104 thousand signatures, after checking 60 thousand, 9.1 thousand were identified as invalid (15.2%). 95.5 thousand signatures were recognized as reliable. Grounds for refusal: more than 5% of unreliable and invalid signatures.

Anatoly Batashev provided 313 of the 300 thousand signatures required by the self-nominated candidate. Grounds for refusal: insufficient number of signatures, failure to provide other required documents.

The Russian Rada provided 476 of 300 thousand signatures. The grounds for refusal are the same as those given by Anatoly Batashev.

Sergei Malinkovich agreed with the decision of the Central Election Commission. Boris Nadezhdin said that he would appeal against it. He asked the CEC to postpone the refusal of registration until February 10 to continue verifying signatures. However, the head of the Central Election Commission, Ella Pamfilova, called his arguments “unfounded.”
