The Central Election Commission plans to refuse working Apple equipment

The Central Election Commission (CEC) of Russia plans to recommend that its employees stop using Apple devices for work purposes. A representative of the CEC press service told Vedomosti about this.
“Recommendations from the Chairman of the Central Election Commission of Russia, Ella Pamfilova, are being prepared to stop the use of Apple technology by members of the Central Election Commission and employees of the commission’s apparatus for official purposes,” he said.
The CEC is also negotiating with domestic developers of mobile devices about the possible use of their technology, added a representative of the press service of the Central Election Commission. He did not specify which companies the dialogue is being conducted with.
Equipment from domestic brands F+, Qtech, Aquarius and Ayya is available to corporate customers and government agencies. On the retail market, Russian smartphones are represented by the brands Inoi, Ayya, BQ, Digma, F+, Highscreen, Irbis, Nobby, teXet, Vertex and Yota. Since the beginning of the year, about 33,500 domestic smartphones have been sold at retail, which is less than 1% of this market, a representative of the F+ tech-Marvel IT holding told Vedomosti.
Bans on the use of Apple products during the performance of official duties were also introduced in the presidential administration and subordinate organizations of the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Energy, the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Digital Development, the Ministry of Transport, the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Federal Customs Service (FCS), the Federal Air Transport Agency and Russian RailwaysVedomosti wrote.
Restrictions on working with Apple equipment for officials and employees of Russian state corporations began to be introduced after the June statement of the FSB about the disclosure of a US intelligence campaign involving the use of a virus on iPhone devices. According to the intelligence service, “several thousand” smartphones of Russians were infected.
