The Central Election Commission has completed accepting documents from self-nominated candidates to participate in the elections

Central Election Commission (CEC) of Russia at 18:00 completed acceptance of registration documents for groups of voters created in support of self-nominees in the presidential elections. To register the candidates themselves, initiative groups need to collect 300 thousand signatures by the end of January. The Russian presidential elections will be held on March 15–17, 2024.

The CEC noted that the acceptance of documents from applicants nominated by political parties continues until 18:00 on January 1. The CEC must make a decision on the registration of all candidates no later than February 10.

The current President of Russia, Vladimir Putin, is running for election as a self-nominated candidate. Nikolai Kharitonov (from the Communist Party of the Russian Federation), Leonid Slutsky (from the LDPR), Vladislav Davankov (from New People), Boris Nadezhdin (from the Civil Initiative), Vladimir Mikhailov (from the Social Protection Party), Andrei Bogdanov (from the Russian Party of Freedom and Justice) and Sergei Baburin (from the Russian All-People’s Union).
