The Central Election Commission does not recommend summing up the results of the elections of heads of Russian regions and deputies of legislative assemblies before September 14. The corresponding letter was sent to the regional election commissions by the chairman of the CEC, Ella Pamfilova.
The recommendation of the head of the CEC affects 18 regions.
“All of you have received my letter with a recommendation not to sum up the results of the elections before September 14, before Wednesday. This applies to the election of senior officials and the election of deputies to legislative assemblies, such large campaigns,” said Pamfilov at the CEC information center (TASS quote).
As Pamfilova explained her proposal, until the specified date, the election commissions will be able to “carefully” consider all complaints and appeals received.
“There is no need to delay, but there is also no need for excessive fuss,” said the head of the CEC.
Three-day voting takes place from 9 to 11 September in 82 regions of Russia. As Pamfilova previously reported, more than 4,700 election campaigns at the regional and local levels will be held. Direct elections of governors are held in 14 regions of the country, legislative assemblies are formed in six constituent entities of the Russian Federation, and deputies of administrative centers are elected in 12. In addition, during the voting will be determined with local governments at various levels.
Voters in eight subjects can take part in remote electronic voting (DEG) — Moscow, Kaliningrad, Novgorod, Tomsk, Yaroslavl, Kaluga, Kursk and Pskov regions.
