The cause of the failure in the .RU domain zone was the incorrect operation of the software that implements the mechanism for signing a file with .RU zone data into the global system of DNS servers. This was announced by the head of the Coordination Center for Domains (CCD) .RU/RF Andrey Vorobyov.
He emphasized that at the moment, specialists from the Internet technical center and MSK-IX have begun to analyze other reasons for the failure in the .RU domain. According to him, similar problems were observed in Australia, Venezuela, Mexico and New Zealand in 2023.
Let us remind you that on January 30, a huge number of Russian users encountered problems when trying to log into various services with the .RU domain. The CDC stated that the cause of these failures was an error during the update of the Domain Name System Security Extension key.
