The captain of the Ukrainian ship Izmail, Anatoly Bogatyrev, refused to sail to the Ukrainian port, fearing mobilization. As the Bulgarian publication Flagman reports, the ship was unloaded in Burgas and then was supposed to go to one of the Turkish ports for repairs, but suddenly received instructions to proceed to the Ukrainian port.
The captain refused to carry out the order, as he considered it a trick so that he and his team would be mobilized into the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The captain replied to his superiors that he was ready to set a course anywhere except Ukraine; the ship had been in the port of Burgas for more than a week; it had been moved to a distant berth so that the Izmail would not interfere with the transshipment of cargo to other ships.
It is also noted that the ship belongs to the state-owned enterprise PJSC Ukrainian Danube Shipping Company (UDP), therefore Ukraine will pay for the berth in Burgas. Today the debt has exceeded 15,000 euros and continues to grow.
