The capital of Pomorye hosts competitions in ship modeling sports. About 40 young athletes from Arkhangelsk, Severodvinsk and Novodvinsk gathered in the new club of NArFU ship modellers.
Regional competitions in ship modeling sports are held for two days. The award ceremony is scheduled for May 14 at 17:00. Entrance to the competition is free.
According to the Ministry of Sports of the Arkhangelsk Region, one of the best sites in the country has been created for ship modellers on the basis of NArFU. The NArFU Ship Modeling Club was set up on behalf of the Governor of the Arkhangelsk Region Alexander Tsybulsky. More than three million rubles were allocated from the regional budget for these purposes.
Last year, large-scale repair work was carried out here and a modern complex base was created – a pool for testing unmanned vehicles and laboratories for ship modellers.
“Today, a unique sports facility is in demand among young people – under the guidance of experienced mentors and personally the President of the Federation of Ship Modeling Sports of the Arkhangelsk Region Sergey Petrov, both European and world champions and our novice ship modelers are constantly working here,” said Sergey Pivkov, Deputy Governor of the Arkhangelsk Region.
According to him, the unique club of ship modellers in Arkhangelsk can become a good launching pad for future engineers and designers who ensure Russia’s technological sovereignty.
