The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine approved the confiscation of 903 Russian assets

The government of Ukraine approved a decree by President Volodymyr Zelensky on the seizure of 903 Russian assets in favor of the state, according to the website of the country’s Cabinet of Ministers.
“Today, the government approved a presidential decree proposing the confiscation of 903 objects belonging specifically to the Russian state. 79 positions are corporate rights, 824 positions are property,” Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal said.
In addition to assets belonging to the Russian state, Kyiv plans to confiscate assets belonging to sanctioned citizens and companies from Russia, as well as assets of Russian banks. In addition, Ukraine intends to seek the confiscation of Russian assets abroad.
On March 10, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky signed a law on the forced seizure of property of the Russian Federation and its residents. In accordance with the provisions of the law, the compulsory seizure of objects of Russian property will be carried out without any compensation for its value. In early April, the Verkhovna Rada adopted a law extending the confiscation of property also to all those who support the conduct of a special operation on the territory of Ukraine, including its citizens. The total amount of the assets of Russia and its citizens arrested in Ukraine reached 33 billion rubles in July.
