The Cabinet of Ministers did not support the abolition of transport tax for participants in the special operation

The government has prepared a response to the initiative of the deputies of the “Fair Russia” led by faction leader Sergei Mironov to abolish the transport tax for the participants in the special operation (Vedomosti got acquainted with it). The Cabinet did not support the bill.

The deputies proposed to amend the Tax Code of the Russian Federation, which would exempt participants in the special operation from paying transport tax “in relation to cars with an engine power of up to 150 horsepower inclusive, motor boats with an engine power of up to 20 horsepower inclusive, motorcycles and scooters with an engine power of up to 35 horsepower included.

The Cabinet of Ministers notes in its response that the transport tax refers to regional taxes, is subject to transfer to the budgets of the constituent entities of the Russian Federation and is one of the sources for the formation of regional road funds. Also, regional laws may provide for separate tax incentives that allow the establishment of differentiated tax rates for each category of vehicles.

In addition, the document says that by presidential decree of April 3, 2023, a state fund was created to support participants in the special military operation “Defenders of the Fatherland”, whose activities are aimed at providing support and assistance to veterans of military operations, family members of those who died during the performance of tasks during a special military operation. operations, the financial support of which is carried out, including at the expense of the budget.

Taking into account the fact that this tax refers to regional taxes, the government reports that it does not support the draft law as presented.
