Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin signed a decree approving a list of 19 countries whose citizens are entitled to obtain a tourist visa in Russia for up to 6 months based on a hotel reservation. The document was published on the official Internet portal of legal information.
According to the order, the list of such countries includes Bahrain, Brunei, India, Indonesia, Iran, Cambodia, China, the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, Kuwait, Laos, Malaysia, Mexico, Myanmar, Oman, Saudi Arabia, Serbia, Thailand, Turkey and the Philippines .
Russia has planned to agree on the introduction of a visa-free regime with 11 countries, including India, Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said earlier. He also noted that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is also working on lifting restrictions on the issuance of electronic visas in about 70 countries, with the exception of unfriendly ones. He explained that e-visas were approved three years ago, but “covid intervened.” The government was instructed to report by June 1 on the possibility of starting to implement earlier decisions on issuing electronic visas, Lavrov added.
According to the Association of Tour Operators of Russia (ATOR), in 2022, about 200,100 foreign tourists visited Russia, which is 30.2% less than in 2021, when 288,300 trips were recorded.
