State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin instructed to prepare a resolution on the removal of a deputy from the Communist Party, secretary of the Central Committee of the party Sergei Obukhov from the post of deputy head of the Duma Committee for the Development of Civil Society and the inclusion of this issue on the agenda of the plenary session of the chamber, several deputies told Kommersant. This decision was made at a meeting of the Council of the Duma on Monday. According to the interlocutors of Kommersant, Mr. Volodin was indignant at the impartial statement of a communist in social networks about the head of the United Russia faction, Vladimir Vasiliev.

As several members of the council told Kommersant, at a meeting on February 20, the speaker suggested that the deputies deprive Mr. Obukhov of the position of deputy chairman of the committee in connection with the publication in his Telegram channel about the meetings of the heads of factions with the president that took place last week. In a post dated February 19, the communist analyzed the timing of TV reports on this topic. The message was later edited, the phrase that “the purity of the experiment was spoiled by the refusal to receive United Russia parliamentary leader Vladimir Vasilyev as president (either because of his illness, or because of uselessness, since there are enough contacts with EP leader Medvedev). On February 17, Dmitry Peskov, press secretary of the head of state, said that the meeting between the president and Mr. Vasilyev would take place after the announcement of the message. One of the versions why it did not take place at the previously scheduled time is a positive PCR test from United Russia.

The remark about the “uselessness” of the meeting with Vladimir Vasiliev angered the speaker, and he suggested that the head of the Duma commission on regulations, Viktor Pinsky (ER), prepare a resolution on the removal of the communist from his position in the committee. Most of the council members (it belongs to the United Russia) supported this decision. According to the participants in the discussion, the deputies from the Communist Party from the leadership of the party, who were present at the meeting, did not comment on the situation. The leader of the Communist Party and its faction, Gennady Zyuganov, was not at the council. For the resolution on removal from office, if it is nevertheless submitted for consideration by the chamber, the majority of deputies must still vote.

Recall that the leading positions in the Duma following the elections were distributed among the deputies within the framework of a “package agreement” between all factions. According to these agreements, half of these positions were presented to the parliamentary opposition (the other half – United Russia), so the post of deputy chairman of the head of the committee on civil society should remain with the Communist Party.
