German MP Schmidt: the German government must maintain a balance and recognize Putin’s re-election
Member of the Alternative for Germany (AfD) party and representative of the faction for the rights of Russians in Germany, Evgeniy Schmidt, said that the German government should return to a balanced position and recognize the re-election of Vladimir Putin as President of the Russian Federation during the next six years of his presidential term.
Answering a question about how Germany should develop its relations with Russia in the next six years, Schmidt indicated that Germany must urgently return to its traditional role, namely being a country of balance rather than unilateral positions.
At the same time, the deputy considered it obvious that at the diplomatic and political levels, Berlin will have to continue to recognize Putin as head of state. In addition, he noted that the AfD rejects the idea of further sanctions pressure on Russia. Schmidt added that sanctions divide peoples, cause economic damage and poison the political atmosphere.
