The head of the State Duma commission to investigate foreign interference, Vasily Piskarev, said that during the presidential elections foreign agents spread “dirty disinformation.” According to him, some of their actions have signs of criminal offenses. “We have recorded numerous attempts by foreign agents to influence public opinion by spreading dirty disinformation, provocative methodological and propaganda materials, and much more. In their actions we see elements of administrative and criminal offenses. All this is in our folders, we will carefully analyze each fact of violation of the law at our Duma commission together with the competent authorities,” Mr. Piskarev said at a briefing at the CEC information center.

In addition, he said, the US Embassy in Moscow sent 40 “provocative messages” to the Russians. “Since the beginning of the year, there has been high destructive activity at the US Embassy in Moscow. We counted more than 40 provocative appeals to our citizens, including discrediting the current election campaign,” added the head of the Duma commission. According to him, materials about the work of the American embassy were sent to the Russian Foreign Ministry.
