The Bulgarian parliament approved the sending of defective S-300 missiles to Ukraine

The Committee on Defense Affairs in the People’s Assembly (Parliament) of Bulgaria approved the free shipment to Ukraine of faulty missiles for the S-300 anti-aircraft systems and decommissioned cartridges for machine guns. The bill on the military aid package for Ukraine was developed by representatives of the largest political parties in Bulgaria – “Continue Change”, “Democratic Bulgaria”, “Citizens for the European Development of Bulgaria”, “Union of Democratic Forces”, as well as the “Movement for Rights and Freedoms”. The authors noted that the republic will not be able to repair the missiles, and in Kyiv they are ready to accept defective ammunition for service.

In the relevant parliamentary committee, 11 representatives voted for the transfer of defective ammunition to Ukrainian troops, and four voted against. Next, the issue will be submitted for consideration by the general composition of the people’s assembly.

Among the opponents of the bill is the Socialist Party of Bulgaria. Deputies from this party said that such a “gift” is a betrayal of national interests and deprives the sky over the capital of the republic of protection. Members of the Socialist Party called for the resignation of Defense Minister Todor Tagarev for supporting the project.

Missiles fired from Ukrainian S-300 anti-aircraft systems sometimes fall on the territory of countries bordering Ukraine. Polish investigators noted that the shell that fell a year ago in Przedun belonged to the Ukrainian Armed Forces. As a result of the emergency, two people died, and immediately after the incident, Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky and other Kyiv officials stated that the missile was “Russian.” Also, fragments of ammunition for the S-300 air defense system were found in Transnistria. They fell 10 km from Tiraspol.
